Australia Day

Australia Day. The name says it all. It is the national day of Australia. The day the First Fleet arrived in Sydney Cove way back in 1788 and also known as Invasion Day  by the indigenous groups of Australia.

Any who, regardless of all the historical information, it is a day when immigrants become citizens and respectable Australian are nominated for the prestigious title of Australian of the year.

Australia day is when:
  • People can be publicly drunk and get away with it.
  • Young hormone driven guys like my brother go to pick up girls
  • People can be complete idiots in public and get away with it
  • Different cultures gather for riots
  • Police squads walk around as though we're targets for terrorist attacks (though would be a good day)
  • People actually show pride in our country by having no pride in themselves
All in all, it was a good day. Getting squashed by mobs trying to see a fight wasn't so pleasant but at least the fireworks displays were great.
