Beach Days

Let’s kiss where the sky and the earth meets,
on a sweet summer’s day.
Riding on your shoulders, we reach out,
trying to capture the youth inside the clouds.
Rolling and rolling, we tumble down sand dunes,
like the waves that we tried to conquer.
We hop across burnt rocks, searching for treasures
that the ocean forgot to retrieve.
Mud crabs scattering sideways, half eroded sea shells.
Prickly sea urchins and stars stranded in sand.
Lying under the glowing sky, we sing songs
about a never ending summer’s day.
And whisper promises of kisses next year too.
These memories are like sand stuck under finger nails.
They will linger within us for a long time.

Is this Summer or is this Hell?

I'm lying on my bedroom floor, pressing myself low as possible to avoid the heat.
My long hair is tied back. There is no hair sticking to my face. Sweat drips down my forehead like the chills of a paranormal activity. My fingers inch towards my tank top, tempted to rip it off and walk around with my breasts exposed. Fuck proper decency, when I'm dying of heat stroke or maybe my hallucinations of an oasis indoors will kill myself off first.

The walls dances ring-a-ring-a-roses around my head. I fling open the refrigerator door and stick my head  into the temporary Antarctica. I grab cubes of ice and my palm rubs them against the smooth of my bare stomach underneath the soaked cotton. Bliss. The ice melts in a few minutes. Screw this! I yank a bucket next to the fridge and hurl ice into it until it's filled to the brim. Crawling to my bathtub, I pour the ice in and turn on the cold tap. Nothing beats this unbearable heat like a bathtub of ice.

I barely stripped out of my clothes and I'm already drowning in the welcoming water. I finger the ringlets of water dripping off my skin and sigh in contentment. I rinse my flowing hair and imagine this is what mermaids feel every day. Bliss.

Summer could go jump off a cliff. He is the unneeded wife beater with his worn out whipping belt and bellowing voice dripping of alcohol. Bring back Winter any day! She is the nurturing mother that sings lullabies in your sleep. Summer is the spoilt daughter of Hades if he ever had one.

And she can go screw herself!

Summer

Sweat drops fall off my nose like tears.
Hair sticks to the back of my neck.
Wearing close to no clothing but still
Feels like I'm wearing a fur coat.
Sleeping with limbs sprawled out
And blankets kicked off bed.
The day crawls by longer than usual
With no swimming pool to dip my toes in.
Opening and closing fridge doors to bathe
In the almost Arctic breeze.
Bliss.
Fleeting.
Face burns when outside of house.
Nights feels like a trip to the Sun.
Nothing but drowning in a tub of ice
Would soothe the peeling skin.
Hot.
Sweaty.
Dizzy.
Australian summer.

Outragous but Refreshing

Today is one of those days, where its so unbearably hot that it feels like the sun is literally beating down on you with a baseball bat.
Its one of those days, where you just want to pull off all your clothes and walk around butt naked to ease the temperature on your delicate burning skin. I would gladly walk around inside my house naked except for the fact that I have male relatives. . .so that plan is screwed.

Another, beloved fantasy that many people have is bathing in a bathtub full of ice cubes. Ohhh what heavenly feel it would have. Imagine: Dipping a toe into the tub and feel a shiver run up your thighs and the tingling sensation on your finger tips. Then, holding your breath, you jump into your miniature Antartic Ocean. Pure heaven. . .

However, I'll pull you away from that refreshing image and drag or if I must; hurl you into my reality. The reality is that I'm currently in my my house's garage which has been transformed into a make shift jamming joint for my brother's band. In this garage is the second computer that my house owns and which I'm using because my brother is hogging the other.

Now, this doesn't sound that bad so far but let me explain; the garage walls are creamy painted bricks and outside is 32' C. Australia's summer is an unbearable summer of hot, dry and humid oven full of heat waves. And it doesn't help my case that the computer also produces its own warmth.

Why can't someone invent a computer that comes with an air conditioner ???!!!!
