Free falling

I'm falling through the sky like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. I fling open my arms and desperately mimic birds flying. My body tumble and tangle within themselves. It's like I'm a doll stitched inside out. My fingers are grasping at thin air. At nothing. Heavy. Everything is heavy. Pulling and plunging me into oblivion. 'Don't you know,' a bird laughs, 'that humans can't fly?'
And I wake up.

    And I wake up in Neverland. I'm standing in a vast open meadow. Above my head, floating in the cloudless sky is a crimson balloon. I stand on my toes and stretch but my childish hands can't grasp the string even though it's only a millimetre away. I jump. The balloon still hovers out of my reach. I jump even higher but somehow the balloon is always just beyond the tip of my fingers. Teasing. The higher I fling myself, the higher the balloon becomes. Until, my feet can no longer find the ground.
And again, I'm falling.

    I am holding desperately with both hands onto my swimming instructor. He presses my palms gently, 'I won't let go' he says smiling. Something tickles the tender of my feet. It is tickle torture in a dungeon. I laugh bubbles out my mouth, shocked I clamp my hands over my lips but I'm suffocating. I cling onto his arms: Help me but the bubbles mumble my words and become water. Salty seawater. He lets go. And I'm drowning. Seaweed shackles my ankles, dragging me down a hole where no one could ever hope to find me. I'm a sailor trapped under a mermaid's lullaby. I claw at the rocks and the walls are painted strips of blood. Help me. No one hears me. Water floods through my pores, opening my body for an invasion. Fish nibbles at my veins and sea slugs sliver slime underneath my skin.
And I'm falling into a bottomless hole with no where to escape.

"It's like I'm a doll stitched inside out."

I love that line greatly and I'm not sure why. It just touches me.

@Nova: Thank you^^
Ummm I've been wondering for some time now, with your blog, do you not allow comments? Because for a long time now, I can't seem to be able to comment.

That was so beautifully put. I was falling with your words. It reminded me of some of my own vivid dreams. You have quite a talent.
